The Best Guacamole

The best guacamole recipe with the perfect balance of ingredients! Make restaurant style guacamole at home!

If I’m gong to include the words “the-best” in the title of any recipe, you better believe that it deserves to be there. I used to take the simplistic route making guacamole at home and throw in some chopped tomatoes and cilantro and I thought it was perfect. Then I tried this recipe with the perfect balance of seasonings and ingredients and it blew the simplistic guacamole out of the water.

Seasonings for Guacamole

What makes this guacamole special? It all comes down to the seasonings. The three must-include seasonings when making guacamole are:

  • ground cumin
  • cayenne pepper (just a pinch!)
  • salt – add more to taste as needed

This guac ends up being perfectly creamy with just a subtle hint of heat. The kind of heat that just about no one would be turned off by.

Guacamole ingredients list

Here is the complete list of ingredients that you will need to make this recipe:

  1. Avocados – you’ll need about 3 average sized avocados that are ripe.
  2. Lime – fresh lime juice makes a huge difference here!
  3. Seasonings – salt, cayenne pepper, ground cumin
  4. Purple onion – finely chopped
  5. Tomato – finely chopped
  6. Cilantro – if you don’t like cilantro, feel free to leave it out
  7. Jalapeno – seeds and ribs removed unless you want spicy guacamole, then leave some or all of the seeds

Allow guacamole to sit before serving:

Allow the guacamole sit for about an hour so that all of the flavors can hang out for a bit. It’s definitely good fresh, but we noticed it tasted even better after about an hour or so!

Make sure you store the guacamole in an air-tight container so that you get the longest possible life out of it. Avocados, like bananas and apples, brown when exposed to oxygen. The lime juice in this recipe helps with the oxidation, but an air-tight container is important.

Now go grab a bag of your favorite tortilla chips or a handful of veggies, and dig in!

What to serve with guacamole:

Guacamole is one of my favorite condiments because it is so versatile and pairs well with tacos, burritos, nachos, sandwiches and so much more. Here are some perfect uses for guacamole in addition to simply using it as a dip for tortilla chips.

  • Air Fryer Taquitos
  • Taco Pinwheels
  • Instant Pot Chicken Fajitas
  • Easy Instant Pot Chicken Tacos
  • Quesadillas

Or try serving guacamole alongside other Mexican / Fiesta themed dips!

  • Cottage Cheese Queso
  • The Best Easy Spicy Salsa
  • Easy Rotel Dip with Sausage
  • Taco Dip
